ABD Yoruba Works With...

Operating Systems:   Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server

.NET Framework v1.0/v1.1: Click on Start=> Control Panel=> Add/Remove Programs. Do you see "Microsoft .NET Framework" on your list?

If you do, read on. If not, download at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/

Applications: Unicode Compatible Applications e.g. MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Email: Unicode Compatible Email Clients e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail, MS Outlook

Fonts: Unicode Compatible Fonts e.g. Arial Unicode MS, Tahoma, Code 2001

- Currently works best with Arial Unicode MS

 

Installation Steps

Win XP

 

0. If you have previously installed ABDYoruba, Remove it from your keyboard layout list (Control Panel => Regional and Language Options => Languages => Details => Highlight "ABDYoruba" and click Remove). Close all applications using ABD Yoruba, then Uninstall ABDYoruba (From Add & Remove Programs), then Restart your computer.

1. Right click on this link: ABDYooba.exe . Select "Save Target as"

2. Save in a destination of your choice, on your computer. Open the folder you saved it to.

3. Double Click on the downloaded ABDYooba.exe, and click on "Extract" to exract all (4) files.

4. Go to the folder you extracted the files into. The default folder is the C drive, so if you did not specify an alternate destination, just go to your C drive ( Click on My Computer => C )

5. A new folder called "ABDYooba" would have been created in this drive. Double click to open the ABDYooba folder.

6.  Right Click on ABDYooba.msi (Windows Installer Package) and click on “install”.

7. Wait a few seconds for the install to be completed, and then click "Close".

8. Click on Start => Control Panel => Regional and Language Options (Or Start => Settings => Control Panel =>... depending on your O/S view)

9. Select “Languages” (Middle Tab)

10. Click on Details. Input Language should be English (United States)

11. Click on Add => Select “ABD Yoruba” Keyboard Layout. Since ABDYoruba can type in both Yoruba & English, you may wish to make it your default keyboard to eliminate the need for switching. To do this, select "English (United States) - ABD Yoruba" from the Default Input Language drop-down list.

12. Click Ok => Ok => Ok.







 

Win 2000

9. Select the “Input Locales” tab => Click on "Add"

10. Select “ABD Yoruba” Keyboard Layout. Since ABDYoruba can type in both Yoruba & English, you may wish to make it your default keyboard to eliminate the need for switching keyboards. To do this, highlight "ABD Yoruba", and click on "Set As Default".

11.Click Ok.
